Pilot Program Is Part of Two-year Evaluation

Since introducing the Loss Control Review (LCR), PDRMA Risk Management staff has reviewed and updated the associated forms annually and conducted a more comprehensive evaluation every 10 years. Changes in PDRMA membership, technology, loss exposures and claims since the 2010 review prompted an even more extensive evaluation than in previous years.

Working together with members, PDRMA Risk Management Services staff and the Risk Management Committee developed a pilot program to use during this current two-year evaluation.

The interim program — for 2019 and 2020 — will create two pilot groups: Pilot A consists of the members regularly scheduled for a review in 2019; Pilot B includes the remaining agencies that will focus on implementing specific Plans of Action and/or risk-management measures. In 2020, agencies will be divided into pilot groups to participate in the program pre-launch.

“By introducing new aspects of the program in a pilot, we can make adjustments at the end of 2019 to ensure we’re meeting the needs members and staff expressed in feedback sessions in 2018,” explains Tim Lenac, PDRMA Risk Management Services Supervisor. “Then in 2020, we’ll prelaunch the revised program before rolling it out to everyone in 2021.”

During the two-year evaluation, the Risk Management Committee approved this 2019 incentive structure:

  • LCR scores will remain at the level of the most recent LCR evaluation. Financial incentives are:
    • Level A — 95 to 100 percent — $1,500.
    • Level B — 90 to 94.99 percent — $1,000.
    • Level C — 85 to 89.99 percent — $500.
  • Members scheduled for a 2019 LCR (Pilot Group A) that meet the current LCR loss-to-premium criteria qualify to receive PDRMA Incentive Wear clothing.
