Fine-tuned RMR Incentive Funding Now Available

With the approval of PDRMA’s Board of Directors, we’re introducing a new Risk Management Review (RMR) incentive funding formula for 2025 to 2027. The new formula includes adjustments to the incentive structure as well as the criteria.

“We carefully thought through our incentive funding,” explains Tim Lenac, PDRMA Risk Management Services Supervisor, “and we now have a formula that better balances member contributions and Risk Management Review achievements.” The changes generally align RMR incentive payments with each member’s total contribution.

“Long term, our goal is to ensure an agency’s total incentive award does not equal a substantial portion of, or exceed, the member’s annual contribution,” Lenac says, describing the 2025 formula as follows:

  • All members with a contribution of less than $150,000 can receive up to a maximum of $1,500. Some members’ incentive awards are also subject to a 25-percent incentive cap of the member’s total contribution — applied only to the Risk Management Review incentive and Risk Management Grant and Recognition Program.
  • Members with a contribution of more than $150,000 can receive up to 1 percent of their total contribution.
  • Risk Management Consultants will notify all members of their potential incentive total and inform those members affected by the incentive cap during their 2025 Kickoff Meetings.

Fine-tuned Ratings

To earn 100 percent of the incentive for which your agency qualifies, you need to focus on three requirements.

“We lean heavily on a member’s rating from the Essentials of Risk Management Form (ERMF)” Lenac explains. “Agencies can qualify for up to 75 percent of their incentive based on their ERMF ranking.”

The remaining 25 percent of the incentive comes from:
  • Participation in the Kickoff Process, completing the Kickoff Form and all agreed-upon activities and applicable SMART Goal Action Steps within assigned timeframes.
  • Submission of 2024 target forms exposure data by Jan. 10, 2025.

Members who meet the above criteria will receive incentive checks in late December 2025.

PRDRA will provide more information throughout the year on the 2026 and 2027 funding criteria.
