Fall into Safety Training

HOLD THE DATE —
NOV. 22

Mark your calendar today and be sure to join us Nov. 22 at Tinley Park Convention Center for PDRMA’s Risk Management Institute, where you’ll learn the latest about safety and risk management best practices and have an opportunity to network with fellow PDRMA members!

Whether it’s a refresher course or your first time in a class, training is a guaranteed way to learn risk management and safety best practices.

“New employees certainly need safety training classes,” says Tim Lenac, PDRMA Risk Management Services Supervisor. “But if you’re familiar with your job tasks, it’s easy to become complacent. Taking that one shortcut, a “just-this-once” occurrence, is what can cause a problem. Encourage all your employees to continue taking training classes — even if they’ve taken them before. This fall we have a solid selection from which they can choose.”

Drivers Ed
Anyone tasked with driving will get a firm safety grounding with our Defensive Driving and Fleet Safety Program at Glen Ellyn Park District Sept. 12. For more specialized driving training, we offer a 15 Passenger Van and Shuttle Bus Driver Training Sept. 4 at and a Sept. 13 session for Safe Operation and Towing of a Trailer, both at Bourbonnais Park District

Safety Management
Whether seasoned or newly hired, full- or part-time, anyone monitoring or managing safe practices needs to stay on top of their game. Your Role as a Safety Coordinator  Sept. 10 at PDRMA.

Human Resources
Introduce human resources principles to new staff Sept. 11 HELP for New and Part-time Supervisors: Mentoring Check-in, a virtual session for supervisors offering helpful reminders and tips.

Playground Safety Training
PDRMA’s commitment to helping members ensure their facilities, staff and patrons are safe and injury free is not one we take lightly. Our Playground Maintenance Technician training Sept. 25 and 26 in Bloomington teaches your staff proper maintenance of equipment and grounds.

Injury Prevention
We’re offering SRA staff the opportunity to learn about — or refresh their memory on — how to prevent common work place injuries in our Ergonomics and Back Safety School for Therapeutic Recreation Staff at Special Recreation Association of Central Lake County Oct. 1.

While all PDRMA training courses increase safety awareness, an agency’s safety culture starts at the top. Managers can set the right tone after taking A Supervisor’s Role in Coaching Injury Prevention at Lombard Park District Oct. 2.
