Pool’s open! But wait…

With the 2017 Aquatics season under way, it’s vital to focus on risk management and safety best practices every day — from 10/20 lifeguard scanning and proper aquatic footwear to pool physical hazard recognition and proper signage (especially for the storage and mixing of pool chemicals). And PDRMA has the resources you need to ensure a fun and safe summer for staff and patrons alike.

PDRMA’s 70-minute Essential Elements of a Proactive Aquatic Risk Management Program recorded webinar provides a comprehensive overview of information you need to know along with advice and resources to establish proactive risk management solutions.

The webinar walks through the Aquatics Safety Guidelines, touching on other PDRMA resources including the Lifeguard Vision Screening Program. Since lifeguards spend more time visually scanning a pool than swimming in it, PDRMA teams with the Visual Fitness Institute (VFI) to offer no-cost vision screenings. If you complete all lifeguard screenings within 30 days of opening day at your aquatic facility, your agency pays no fee to VFI. For questions about the vision screening program, please contact Jackie Lentz, PDRMA Risk Management Project Coordinator. There’s also information on PDRMA's Lifeguard Audit Program, an overview of pool safety and much more.

In addition to the recorded Essential Elements webinar, PDRMA offers aquatic videos, training programs and guidelines to help members enjoy a safe aquatics season.
