New Blended-format HELP Class Debuts
PDRMA members have spoken, and we listened! Now members need less live class time to earn a certificate of completion for the HELP 1 — Essentials of Human Resources class.
“I loved it! I like being able to go back and review a section if I didn’t understand something.” |
“Offering the first two modules online allows us to complete the live-class training in just two days,” notes Bill Hooker, PDRMA Training Program Supervisor. “We also updated the HELP content in this new blended learning format.”
HELP has taught more than 3,000 supervisors how to manage a wide variety of human resources functions effectively while helping them understand their responsibilities in measuring staff performance, following employment law, hiring/disciplining/terminating staff, and recognizing when to call PDRMA for help.
“I prefer the online version as it allowed me to stop and start at my own pace and continue to address my daily responsibilities.” |
The online program is available through PDRMA’s Online Learning Center (OLC) and includes Module 1 — Essentials of Employment Law and Policy along with Module 2 — Recruiting and Hiring. With an estimated completion time of four or five hours, you can stop or restart the modules to fit your available time and learning pace.
“The program was very easy to use. It was great that you could save it and then continue at a later point in time.” |
Once you complete the online portion, you can then register for one of the instructor-led sessions, which cover Modules 3 through 5, to learn the importance of training, how to manage staff performance effectively, and to practice performance-review skills. Successfully completing all five modules with at least an 80-percent score earns the student a certificate of completion.
Live HELP classes are already on the 2017 PDRMA Training Calendar, with one in February, one in March, two in April and two to be added later in the year. |
