Tips for Reporting Life Events

Did you know there are certain life events that allow you to make changes to your benefits? Events such as getting married, having a baby or adopting a child, or your spouse had a career change and now needs health insurance coverage are all qualifying events for making benefits changes. But it’s important to know there are deadlines and required documentation associated with these events.

How to report a Life Event:

  • Report your Life Event on PlanSource within 31 days of the event date — even if you can’t submit the required documentation within that 31-day deadline.
  • The PlanSource Participant Guide: Update Your Benefits for a Life Event (3031) has step-by-step instructions to report your life event.
  • Curious what kind of documentation you need? Ask your Health Benefits Coordinator for details and deadlines for different life events.
