Shoutout Spotlight

PATH Shoutouts are a great way to recognize others’ efforts and receive recognition and support of your own! You can earn 100 points per month, or up to 300 points each quarter, for giving Shoutouts — or receiving them. Use them to say “Thanks!” or “Good job!” to a coworker or teammate. Then be sure to check our Shoutout Spotlight article in each issue of Health in Action to see if we tell your Shoutout story!

Jessica Mitchell, Superintendent of Finance & HR at Vernon Hills Park District, says, “Debi (Accounting Supervisor) is such a key player at our district, and her tenacity provides a solid foundation for our financial stability. While the stresses that come with our department can be challenging, her experience and knowledge has aided me in similar situations, and as she often reminds me, ‘we can always figure it out, one way or another.’ Being such a strong contributor to our team, she always covers her responsibilities, no matter what hurdles lie ahead.”

Jessica added that she enjoys sharing her appreciation of others. “The Shoutouts are a great avenue for that,” she explains, “and receiving PATH points for it is a great bonus!”

Theresa McNamara, Recreation Manager, Special Recreation Association of Central Lake County (SRACLC) told Cassie, Superintendent of Administrative Services, “Having you as a supervisor has given me a new light! You are well versed in your role, and I appreciate all the training I get from you, as I continue to learn from an incredible person!”

Theresa, who started with the agency in December 2023, says, “Cassie has been an incredible supervisor the whole time I’ve been here — teaching, coaching, setting me up for success and being a great support system.”

Although Theresa, in part, gave Cassie a Shoutout because she received one from Cassie, this wasn’t just about returning the favor. “I was inspired to recognize Cassie for showing all-around positivity,” she explains. “It only takes one positive statement to put someone in a great mood for the rest of their day. Staying positive and humble has always steered me in the right direction, so giving that to others, so they know how it feels, just makes sense.”

“I felt honored when I received Sara’s Shoutout,” says Heather, Recreation Supervisor/Fitness for Lakeview Fitness at Vernon Hills Park District. “We work in the same facility, but rarely have an opportunity to interact. Sara, a Childcare Teacher, is in our childcare wing, and I am on the fitness side of the building. When we do have a chance to connect, we often share updates on our fitness journeys.

“We recently had a chance meeting in the kitchen, and Sara shared some obstacles she was facing. We did a mini-brainstorming session on creative ways to help meet goals. Sara is an inspiration in her pursuit to be healthy and challenge herself, so knowing I’m helping to support her even in our small interactions means a lot to me.”

Heather added that knowing how much it meant to receive Sara’s Shoutout, she’s spurred on to give more virtual “high fives” to her peers and PATH friends!
