Event Helper’s 24/7 Availability Makes Coverage Easier for Members and Patrons

Special event coverage is just a click away — literally. With last year’s introduction of Event Helper’s (EH) secure, web-based program, PDRMA members can include a button on their agency websites for patrons to quickly and easily order special event coverage 24/7.

“When our patrons use Event Helper, their certificate of insurance is sent directly to us,” says Becky Cooper, Safety Manager, Naperville Park District. “For tracking purposes, it makes our jobs easier because we don’t have to figure out why we’re getting a Certificate of Insurance. If it’s from Event Helper, it states the date of the event, and we know it’s for a one-time rental.”

Community Relations Manager Debbie Kretzmann agrees. “We use EH services for outdoor rentals when alcohol is being served, as well as for indoor rentals if alcohol is being served and the renter is not using one of our preferred caterers,” she explains. “It’s made the rentals that require insurance easier to manage by reducing the amount of paperwork going back and forth with PDRMA. I receive the certificate directly from EH, and it makes it quite easy to find the rental paperwork and know the insurance portion is complete.”

To ensure you receive the certificate from Event Helper, send your patrons to the PDRMA-specific website page — https://www.theeventhelper.com/partner/pdrma. Patrons choose the applicable park district from a drop-down menu and can then proceed with purchasing the appropriate coverage. “It’s quick and easy to use,” adds Kretzmann. “I tested it when I was first introduced to EH — it’s really very easy.”

Kretzmann generally requires renters to come in person to do the rentals, and plans to add a link on the Naperville website to Event Helper so patrons can quickly and easily access EH. “We still need to track the rentals that require insurance, because not all renters are good about following through with Event Helper. But I really appreciate that when I do get a certificate of insurance from EH, I know it’s correct.”
